3Vision discuss the hot topics surrounding the future of on demand viewing
Recently unveiled at Connected TV World Summit 2015, 3Vision exclusively shared insight and analysis of the results of an industry-wide survey, conducted in the run in to their Advanced Content Strategies breakout session.
"When it comes to content licensing, local territory VOD and SVOD operators should maintain their local focus rather than compete with global buyers like Netflix for US TV series.
Broadcaster involvement will also be critical to them strengthening their position."
3Vision identified that 68% of respondents favoured such a local focus, with 14% suggesting local operators should compete with the likes of Netflix and 14% stated otherwise.
It was also found that 62% of people who participated in the survey believed that linear channel carriage fees would remain a dominant share of the budget for pay-TV operators.
A similar percentage, 65%, believed that digital retail specialists such as iTunes and content owners would dominate digital ownership sales.
On a more general level, 71% believed that on demand viewing would become more significant for broadcast channels than traditional scheduled linear viewing.
